Ashton Heritage Puro Sol Churchill
The Ashton Herigtage Puro Sol line of cigars has a unique sweetness to them and a medium bodied flavor and strength. The characteristics of this cigar seem to fit a morning smoke or mid afternoon. I say this is because the complexity and subtleness of this cigar is more sensitive then say a Liga 9 from Drew Estate. You need to savor these nuances with the most delicate of interruptions such as a cup of coffee or a light lunch. It has a classic feeling to it almost a tribute to the old Ashton Classics of the early 90's.
Founded in 1985 by Robert Levin, Ashton Distributors, Inc. is family-owned and operated with headquarters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Ashton Heritage Puro Sol is hand rolled in the Dominican Republic with a Sun Grown Dominican binder/filler and an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Medium in body and strength means you can enjoy this any time of day without having a large meal or four bottles of water nearby to enjoy it. At the infamous Ashton Cigar Bar in Philadelphia they actually have a recommended drink pairing with this cigar called "Mutiny on the Deck". It's Black Grouse Scotch, Walnut Bitters, Spicy Ginger, flamed lemon peel, smoky rum rinse.
What's unique about this blend is all the tobacco is entirely sun grown, hence the name Puro Sol (Pure Sun) tobacco. This gives the cigar a rich nuttiness with notes of a sweet Latte and bread. It also favors a floral aroma and clean white smoke, the retrohale is easy and anticipating. Although some cigars are blended to change flavors throughout the smoking experience, this cigar has an appropriate consistency. This means you can enjoy the same great flavors for a longer period of time. expect and how to properly compliment a drink. I find that although, like most Ashton's, you will spend a little extra at the cash register but you will less likely be disappointed. You notice the attention to detail in the way the cigar feels, the way it burns, and an overall "aged" profile. You get the sensation that this cigar was handled by rollers with white gloves in a hermetically sealed blending room.
However my opinion is not the only one that matters, if you have a comment or alternative assessment of this cigar feel free to share it our website www.cigartipsters.com or catch us on Facebook and Twitter, just look up Cigar Tipsters.
