Olivia Series V - Melanio Maduro
Cigar Tipsters Rating:
9/10
I am a huge fan of the Oliva Serie V cigars, probably because it was the first cigar that turned my head and seduced me into trying and loving cigars. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to try out the Serie V Melanio Maduro. This Oliva is sold in one-size, a box-pressed torpedo measuring 6.5 inches long by 52 ring gauge. Made from a blend of Nicaraguan tobacco, it is wrapped in a Mexican Maduro with almost no visible veins.
The cigar has a fantastic pre-lit scent that entices with a gorgeous tobacco and nutty aroma. It lists as a medium to full cigar, and features complexities of flavor. Upon lighting the Melanio Maduro, you'll notice a pop of pepper that's not overwhelming or too strong, but you definitely taste it in the initial draw. But along with it, comes flavors dark chocolate, nutmeg, coffee, great tobacco and a delicious creamy smoke that settles nicely in the middle of your mouth. These notes of flavor stay present throughout the experience. The stick finishes with bold flavors of satisfying toffee. It is smooth, consistent in its flavors, produces lush white smoke and holds a fabulous ash.
The Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro is the kind of cigar you never want to let go. It's one of those cigars that you should buy boxes of and enjoy at least once a week. In fact, I'm going to go smoke another now.
